Shane MacGowan's widow says she was 'crying in bed all day' on their wedding anniversary
The Pogues legend died on November 30 last year
The widow of Pogues legend Shane MacGowan has said she misses him "desperately, more than I even thought possible" as she marked their wedding anniversary, nearly one year after the death of the singer.
MacGowan died last November, but the couple’s wedding anniversary would’ve been on November 26.
His widow Victoria Mary Clarke said it has been “f***ing hard”, admitting she spent the day marking their anniversary “crying in bed and not feeling like there's anything to live for”.

She wrote on Instagram: “Today is our wedding anniversary and it is f***ing hard. I am just crying in bed and not feeling like there's anything to live for. I miss him desperately, more than I even thought possible.
“Even though I know that these emotions are really only passing through and there will be times when I can feel the joy again and the appreciation for everything that we shared. And even though I know that Shane is happy in another dimension with his beautiful mother Therese.
“It's a weird thing to know that you are human and that it f***ing hurts to be human but at the same moment that you are hurting you are also a soul and you are also eternal and powerful and full of love and light.
“Sometimes you can feel very isolated and alone and cut off from the love. The only way back to love is through love so if you are hurting, find something nice to say to yourself, find a way to love yourself and support yourself and keep asking the angels for help to heal the pain in your heart and to lift the heaviness and let the light in.
“Never blame yourself or make yourself wrong for feeling sad. You are a beautiful soul and you are also a fragile and sensitive human and you are both at the exact same moment. Be whatever you need to be in the moment and allow some space to hear the messages from your soul and your guides.
“You are so loved even if you think you are alone and ESPECIALLY if you think you are alone! Thank you so much for being in my life, my beautiful @shanemacgowanofficial I will love you forever and ever.”
MacGowan met Victoria when they were teenagers in a North London pub back in 1984; the then 16-year-old Victoria was on a night out with her flatmate at the time of their encounter. However, they didn’t start dating until four years later.
Following 32 years of dating, Shane finally proposed to Victoria before tying the knot in 2018 in Copenhagen with a small number of guests, including Johnny Depp.
The singer died on November 30 last year after battling multiple health issues.
