Katie Taylor's coach Ross Enamait has hit back at critics of the boxing great over the "crap" spouted following the Bray fighter's second win over Amanda Serrano.

Taylor defended her super-lightweight world titles against the Puerto Rican at the AT&T Stadium earlier this month, winning by unanimous decision after all three judges scored the bout 95-94 in her favour.

But there was anger from Serrano's camp afterwards, with her coach Jordan Maldonado accusing Taylor of being "so dirty" and claiming "she leads with her head".

There was also plenty of criticism aimed at Taylor online over the result, which came two and a half years after she defeated Serrano by split decision at Madison Square Garden.

But Enamait praised his fighter for once again showing incredible heart and grit to have her hand raised in victory.

"That’s the one thing that Katie has done unbelievably well throughout her career: when it gets gritty and it gets tough, like she is willing to give everything she has in there," he told Off The Ball.

"That’s one of the reasons it’s so frustrating when you see all these people talking crap basically about her. It’s like put some respect on her name.

"Not only has she done so much for the sport itself, but she literally gives every ounce that she has to the fight.

"And most people have no idea what that takes. Like you have to go somewhere that a lot of people they want to think they can go there but until you’re in that situation you never know – and Katie’s done it time and time again."

The American also hit out at comments made by some of the commentators on Netflix's coverage of the fight, with Mauro Ranallo stating Serrano was "robbed", while Rosie Perez stated Taylor would have an "asterisk" beside her legacy over headbutting.

"You have a responsibility to call the fight fairly – just call what you see," he added.

"And again, I’m not pointing fingers but Rosie Perez, she’s a boxing fan but does that mean she’s qualified to commentate on the most viewed fight in history? Probably not.

"I knew she was going to be pro-Serrano and obviously it doesn’t affect us. We just have to go our there and execute our plan and win the fight.

"You’d like to have an evenly called fight, just for the fans."
