Bayern chief aims clear dig at new England boss Thomas Tuchel - "Like night and day!"
Thomas Tuchel left Bayern Munich at the end of the 2023-2024 season after overseeing the club's first trophyless season in 12 years as Vincent Kompany was installed as his replacement
Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has claimed life at the club under Vincent Kompany is "like night and day" compared to Thomas Tuchel 's reign.
Tuchel - who has been unveiled as the next England boss - suffered a difficult spell with the Bavarian giants as the team completed a first season without silverware for 12 years in the 2023-24 campaign.
The German left at the end of that season after Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen went unbeaten to beat them to the title, before Vincent Kompany was installed as his replacement.
Bayern are enjoying a return to form and look likely to recapture the Bundesliga crown after going five points clear at the top of the table and yet to taste defeat.
Hoeness reportedly called Tuchel "a disaster" for Bayern at a secret meeting a few weeks ago, according to Bild, and he has now told the German outlet how things have picked up since Kompany's arrival.
"It's a difference like day and night compared to before," he said. "He is communicative and cares about his players. But we didn't know that before. That's why we called Pep Guardiola and asked him for advice. He just told us that we could take him blindly, he could do it."
Tuchel's sacking by Bayern came after he was also axed by Chelsea in 2022 and he will now be aiming to bounce back in his managerial career with England.
The 51-year-old will officially get to work on January 1 after taking over from interim boss Lee Carsley, with his primary focus placed on winning England's first World Cup for 60 years in 2026.
Tuchel, who has signed an 18-month deal with the Three Lions, said at his opening press conference: "I am very proud to have been given the honour of leading the England team. I have long felt a personal connection to the game in this country, and it has given me some incredible moments already.
"To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege, and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting.
"Working closely with Anthony [Barry] as my assistant coach, we will do everything we can to make England successful and the supporters proud."
