Gladiator II star Paul Mescal left speechless after meeting the winner of lookalike competition
The unofficial contest was held in Smithfield last Thursday.
Gladiator II star Paul Mescal was left speechless after he met the winner of his lookalike competition.
Last week, Clare native Jack Wall O’Reilly was crowned winner of the competition, which was held in Smithfield just hours before Mescal walked the red carpet in Dublin.
Paul was left shocked when Zoe Ball linked the Kildare star up with his doppelganger on her BBC Radio 2 show on Wednesday morning.

Mescal exclaimed: “This is bananas.” Speaking to Jack, Paul joked: “I actually saw the photo, I didn't know it was happening until it was over and I think you captured the spirit of me very well.”
Jack replied: “Thank you very much. I presumed you were at home with your family getting some rest after the long press tour.”
“Oh you are so nice and thoughtful,” replied Paul.
Jack revealed he has recently graduated with a Masters in Screenwriting, citing Paul as an inspiration he gushed: “I am a huge fan, massive respect for everyone there. Obviously Paul, Aftersun is one of my favourite films.
“He is a great inspiration for young creative people in Ireland and all around the world and I hope someday through the appropriate channels when I have got an idea I am passionate and is developed enough that maybe I might get to bring it to you.
“Oh Jack you are an absolute gentleman,” added Paul.
Last week, hundreds of wannabe Mescal’s turned up for the unofficial event in Dublin.
After being crowned winner of the competition, Jack said: “I'm a huge fan of Paul. I mean, watching normal people over lockdown.
“I actually work in TV as well and I write and direct inside. So, like, I just have a real appreciation. He's a really talented guy.”
