Katie Taylor fight result as A

Katie Taylor has beaten Amanda Serrano via unanimous decision to keep hold of her WBA, WBO, WBC, IBF, IBO and Ring Magazine super-lightweight world titles.

The biggest rematch in women's boxing history did not disappoint as once again two of the sport's all-time greats battled it out in another classic.

Taylor was deducted a point for grabbing as the fight began to swing in Serrano's favour in the eighth round, with a clash of heads earlier in the bout causing a bad cut above the Puerto Rican's right eye that caused her problems for the rest of the bout.

But the three judges at ringside felt the Bray Bomber, who boxed brilliantly for most of the fight, had done just enough to beat Serrano for a second time as they all scored the bout 95-94 in her favour.

Serrano and her team were furious with the result, with her coach Jordan Maldonado accusing Taylor of leading with her head too much.

The re-run of their 2022 Madison Square Garden, which Taylor won split-decision, was the co-main event to Mike Tyson v Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with Taylor making the first defence of the super lightweight world titles she won off Chantelle Cameron almost a year ago.

The 2012 Olympic champion infamously found herself in all sorts of trouble during the fifth round of the first fight between the pair, but it wasn't until the seventh that she looked in trouble this time, having boxed fantastically well up to that point.

Taylor came out all guns blazing in the seventh, allowing Serrano to land combinations that she had struggled to land up until that point.

The event made history by bringing in the biggest boxing gate outside of Las Vegas in US history, surpassing $17.8 million, nearly double the previous Texas gate record for combat sports in both boxing and MMA.
