Gordon Elliott to run over 40 horses at Navan this weekend - including over half the field in Troytown Chase

Gordon Elliott is set to have over 40 runners at this weekend's Navan Racing Festival - including more than half the field in the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase.
Elliott has always been a big supporter of his local track and this weekend will be no different as he runs a host of his big stars at the Meath venue.
The Cullentra handler has 11 declared runners for Sunday's feature race, the €100,000 Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase, which is more than half of the 20-runner field.
And while he has a couple of horses double-entered of his 44 entries for the weekend, he still looks set to run over 40 horses at Navan.
Elliott drew headlines last year for having 14 runners in the Troytown Chase, winning the race with Coko Beach.
While some believed that it was a bad look for Irish racing, Elliott defended his position, arguing that he was helping the race rather than hindering it.
"We didn't stop any horse running in the race," he said at the time.
"The race didn't fill and I think if I only run one or two horses then there might have only been eight or nine in the race.
"For a €100,000 race, for Bar One Racing who sponsor the race and for a track like Navan, it would have been embarrassing if there were only eight or nine runners in it."
He added: "All my owners are paying training fees and entry fees and they want to run, so I don't think I have anyone to answer to. All I want to do is do my best for every horse and every owner."
