Liam Payne girlfriend's 'tough love approach as she feared for One Direction star'
One Direction member Liam Payne passed away, aged 31, just last month whilst out in Argentina, after having initially been in the country with his partner Kate Cassidy
The late Liam Payne 's partner Kate Cassidy reportedly tried to use "tough love" on him, with it claimed that "his drug use was causing a lot of drama" in the relationship.
It was announced last month that Liam had passed away, aged 31, after falling from the balcony of CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. The late singer is said to have died from "polytrauma and internal and external bleeding."
He's thought to have arrived in Argentina two weeks before with Kate, but she is understood to have returned to the US without him prior to his death. Whilst on the trip, Liam, who had spoken about having issues with drug and alcohol use in the past, had reportedly worked on renewing a visa to return to the country.

As previously reported, he's said to have been required to undergo medical examinations and drug tests due to his history. It's however been claimed that he turned to narcotics and alcohol shortly after completing the relevant tests.
It's claimed that Kate gave him an ultimatum at one point and attempted to display "tough love". A source told the New York Post : "His drug use was causing a lot of drama. So she gave him an ultimatum: her or the drugs. He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation." The source said Kate thought that she was "doing tough love".
Kate and Liam are said to have originally planned stay in Argentina for several days but the trip was extended to more than two weeks before Kate left. She later told fans that she "hates" staying in one place for a long period of time and needed to return home to Florida.
The outlet further claims that Kate told friends that staying with Liam was a "hostage situation" as he continued to extend the trip. A source that it was "becoming very unhealthy" and that she had "hoped" he would follow her back to Miami.
Kate paid tribute to her late partner Liam in a post on social media just days after his death. She wrote in her statement: "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."
She later told fans that Liam had planned to propose to her within the next year. As previously reported, further paying tribute in the subsequent post, she wrote: "Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into. [...] You had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."
She added: "A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.' Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel."
