Ireland boss insists focus is on Euro 2025 play-off after learning of Nations League opponents
Ireland are in action later this month against Wales in their bid to make next summer’s European Championships.
Eileen Gleeson insists she only has eyes for the upcoming Euro 2025 play-offs against Wales.
There was a brief distraction from planning for those two massive games, in Cardiff and the Aviva Stadium, on Thursday lunchtime when the draw for next year’s Nations League was made.
Ireland were placed in Group B2 alongside Türkiye, Slovenia and Greece in the draw, which took place in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Girls in Green were relegated back to League B after a tough top-tier campaign earlier this year against England, Sweden and France, although they finished in style with a famous 3-1 Pairc Ui Chaoimh win over Les Bleus.
When Ireland were last in Group B, in the second-half of last year, they secured a 100 percent record with home and away wins over Northern Ireland, Hungary and Albania.
Gleeson addressed Thursday’s draw, before turning her attention back to the matter at hand, with games in Cardiff on November 28 and Dublin on December 3.
She said: “We now know our opponents for the next UEFA Nations League campaign, which will help us with planning and preparation for the games.
“Promotion to League A is the overall aim for the upcoming Nations League campaign to ensure we compete at the highest level and maximise opportunities to qualify for major tournaments.
“For now, our focus remains on the UEFA Euro 2025 qualifying play-off with two huge games.
“We look forward to seeing our fans at the Aviva on December 3rd and thank them for your continued support.”
Ireland have never played Türkiye at senior women's level, while they last came up against Slovenia in a 2-0 win August 2014 and have met Greece on seven occasions - the last of which coming in a 1-0 win in March 2020.
Fixtures details and venues will be confirmed in due course with the group games taking place across three international windows: February 19-26, April 2-8, May 28-June 3.
