Boxing fans spot concern in Mike Tyson training video for Jake Paul fight
The 58-year-old - who hasn't fought a professional fight in nearly two decades - is scheduled to make a return to the ring on November 15 against the social media star
Boxing fans have been left concerned after recent training footage showed Mike Tyson ramping up preparations for his heavyweight showdown with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
The 58-year-old is currently in the final stages of training camp ahead of next week's clash with 'The Problem Child'. The two boxing stars will go glove-to-glove on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of up to 80,000 fans. Both Tyson and Paul were due to face off back in July, however, 'Iron Mike' was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an ulcer flare up earlier this year.
While Tyson is adamant he is fit to return to the ring next week, fans have feared for the boxing veteran's health. Those concerns were heightened after the American recently revealed he was struggling to walk after training. His last professional bout took place back in 2005 when he suffered a defeat to Kevin McBride. He did, however, take on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition clash four years ago.
Over the last few months, 'Iron Mike' has opted against uploading clips of his training sessions on social media, while his upcoming opponent has been very vocal and active online. However, in recent weeks, Tyson has given his fans a glimpse as to how his training camp is going.
In a recent video posted to YouTube by Most Valuable Promotions, fans have been able to take a sneak peak at Tyson's training camp. However, some of the boxing faithful were left unimpressed. There are a few who were concerned by the 58-year-old's physical condition.
One user commented: "He’s looks like he’s struggling to even do basic exercises in sets without the cheering on. Not a good sign". While another wrote: "Looks like he is breathless and gassing after a few seconds…. I hope he doesn’t get hurt". A third wrote: "Mike could possibly be the toughest 58 year old out there but I don't know if he has the stamina to beat a 27 year old Jake". Another posted: "Mike's legs are gone". "Tyson's balance is off, he's getting old. I hope he wins, but his age is a serious factor", wrote another.
While many have been left concerned by the video, there are a few who remain optimistic. "Wow......Mike looks like a beast!! Jake must be feeling scared watching this", one user wrote. Another commented: "Something tells me if this fight goes really well for Tyson, I can see him try to come out of retirement. 58 isn't supposed to look and move like that". A third wrote: "Mike is an all time great even at his age".
With just a week to go until the fight, there are a few fans who believe the 58-year-old isn't taking the fight seriously. During a recent chat with Jimmy Kimmel, 'Iron Mike' claimed he was training six hours a day. "I am training extremely hard, I do six hours a day. I start at 11am and might leave the gym at 5pm," he said. Kimmel looked stunned and replied: "Oh no. 11am? So that's six hours straight, or is there a lunch break?" The former heavyweight champion admitted there was a small break as a shocked Kimmel gasped: "Oh no."
