Michael Murphy makes sensational Donegal return at 35
Donegal All-Ireland winner Eamon McGee says Michael Murphy's return will be a huge lift to Jim McGuinness' squad
Michael Murphy has made a sensational return to the Donegal squad.
Jim McGuinness has tempted his 2012 All-Ireland winning captain back to inter-county football almost exactly two years on from his retirement.
Murphy, who turned 35 in August, has been added to the Donegal training panel, 17 and a half years after making his debut in a 2007 qualifier against Leitrim.

Glenswilly man Murphy, who was involved in Jim Gavin’s Football Review Committee (FRC) will now have an opportunity to play inter-county football under the new rules in 2025.
The five-time All Star’s return was welcomed by ex Donegal defender Eamon McGee: “It is a massive positive for Donegal," said McGee.
“It will be a huge lift for the young bucks in the panel to see him, play with him and learn from him.
“If the management were looking at it and saying where do we get the next extra lift from. The obvious one is Michael Murphy, ‘He’s not done and dusted. Let’s go to him.’”
“You are going to need to watch Murphy. It is going to free up the likes of Oisin Gallen. Paddy McBrearty is going to be knocking about.”
It is believed that Murphy resisted strong overtures from McGuinness to return to the squad last year.
He chose to focus on media work with the BBC and GAAGO, and was forging a reputation as a top pundit.
Murphy, who runs his own business - Michael Murphy Sports - and works as Head of Sport at ATU Donegal, has also dipped his toe into coaching at college and club level.
