Music fans have been in mourning since the shock death of One Direction singer Liam Payne - who tragically died after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina in October
Liam Payne will soon be finally laid to rest following his shock death last month.
The One Direction heartthrob tragically died while in Argentina in October - leaving family, friends and millions of fans devastated. The singer was just 31-years-old when he passed away and has left behind his young seven-year-old son, Bear - who he shared with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy, 41.
Following his October 2024 death, Liam's body remained in Argentina while authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding his death. His family were finally told at the beginning of November that his body could be returned to the UK - almost three weeks after his tragic passing.

While a cause of death has been shared, it is unclear if Argentinian authorities have received results from toxicology tests that were conducted to aid in the investigation into his death. The singer's family are reportedly planning a funeral to take place in the UK this month in order to say a final farewell to him.
When did Liam Payne die and what happened?
Liam Payne tragically died on 16 October 2024 at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He fell from a third-floor balcony and sustained fatal injuries.
His hotel death sparked a probe by authorities as there were concerns he had taken drugs that may have caused a "psychotic episode". Authorities in Argentina have also been working to confirm that no 'third-party' was involved in his death.
A statement released by the Sistema de Atencio Medica de Emergencia in Argentina after his death stated: “British musician Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo. In the afternoon, police personnel from Precinct 14B were directed to the hotel by a 911 call reporting an aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”
What is the official cause of death of Liam Payne?
A post-mortem determined that the For You singer's death was caused by "polytrauma and internal and external bleeding". His death was the result of "multiple traumatic injuries" - and forensics later found evidence of 25 injuries "compatible with those produced by a fall from height."
However, the Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office later ruled the death was "doubtful/undetermined" as a fully conclusive cause of death could not be reached. While a statement released to PA revealed the star had "not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and that he could have fallen into a state of semi- or total unconsciousness."
It has been reported that a toxicology report was ordered, however the results of this have not as yet been made public. The prosecutor's office added that: "a series of substances were seized from the musician’s room, which would prove a previous situation of alcohol and drugs consumption."
When can Liam Payne's body be returned to the UK?
Reports emerged on Saturday 2 November that Liam's body was finally set to be released in order to allow his family to fly him back to the UK. It was stated that his family could receive him and transport arrangements be made by Monday 4 November at the very latest.
Respected Argentinian daily La Nacion said Liam's father Geoff Payne, 66, had been told personally in a new meeting with prosecution chief Andres Madrea he could return to the UK with Liam's body two weeks after flying to the south American country following the star's fatal fall.
It said: "All the documents are ready for the former One Direction singer to return to his homeland so a funeral can take place there next week. When Geoff Payne reached Argentina on October 18 he was told the repatriation process could take between four and five days, but because of the circumstances surrounding his son's death things took longer than expected."
When is Liam Payne's funeral expected to take place?
Reports have suggested that Liam's family are planning to hold his funeral in the UK at some point during the week commencing Monday 4 November, 2025. It has not yet been confirmed if his funeral will be held as a public event or a private ceremony.
An exact location of the funeral of the star, who hails from Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, has not been made public. Fans who have been mourning the loss of the star have been signing a change.org petition with the hope of implementing new laws to help safeguard the mental health of musicians and artists - a cause Liam himself battled for in his lifetime.
The initial appeal planned to attract just 12,000 signatures, but quickly surpassed this number and, a of 2 November it had attracted over 130,000. After passing 100,000 signatures, the proposal is now expected to be debated by ministers in Parliament.
