Netflix has got into the Halloween groove with a slew of scary offerings, but fear not if you're not up for the chills there's fresh content for those who prefer to skip the frights.

As we brace for darker and chillier evenings, movie lovers and couch surfers are on the hunt for that perfect flick to cosy up with in the weeks ahead.

Your search ends at Netflix, which has just popped a brilliantly quirky rom-com onto its roster, perfect for anyone looking to shake off the Halloween hangover.

Featuring the talents of Irish funnywoman and actress Aisling Bea, this romantic comedy breaks the mold and nabbed some glowing critiques at its Edinburgh International Film Festival debut earlier this year.

It's now ready to stream, included in your Netflix subscription, reports the Mirror.

Aisling Bea as Gemma
Gemma goes through with her wedding despite a shocking tragedy

And Mrs stars Bea as Gemma, a woman left almost-widowed when her soon-to-be husband kicks the bucket right before their big day.

The film's blurb teases, "when [the] reluctant bride-to-be's fiance drops dead, she insists on marrying him anyway - vowing to overcome public opinion, the law of the land, and her loved one's objections."

You've read that right - this tale kicks off with one of the lovebirds already six feet under, so buckle up for a rollercoaster of unexpected twists.

Also starring US legends Billie Lourd and Colin Hanks, the film boasts a stellar supporting cast including Susan Wokoma, Omari Douglas, and Nish Kumar, not to mention acting legend Dame Harriet Walter and Doctor Who's own Arthur Darvill.

Cath Clarke from The Guardian hailed And Mrs as a "barmy Brit romcom" with a "knockout" ensemble.

She went on to praise Bea as an "absolute hoot. When Hollywood stars play ordinary civilians, there's often a slumming-it quality to their performances, but Bea is funny and real, sarky and very likable as Gemma."

Common Sense Media remarked: "The premise of And Mrs is a touch bizarre - a woman determined to marry her dead fiance - but somehow the movie sidesteps anything too uncomfortable or schmaltzy, instead offering plenty of humor and some well-earned emotional moments."

Sky is giving away a free Netflix subscription to Sky Stream members, saving £119.76 over the 24-month term.

Sky Stream lets members watch live and on-demand TV content without a satellite dish or aerial and includes hit shows like The Penguin and the upcoming second season of Squid Game.

Awards Buzz described the flick as "an enjoyable experience that packs a surprising emotional punch, depicting a make-the-best-of-it situation that audiences will surely hope never to live for themselves but will likely very much enjoy watching."

Digital Spy chimed in: "It's an affecting British rom-com unlike any you've seen before, and one that gives you as many laughs as it will tears."

A Letterboxd user who attended the EIFF premiere listed its charms, including "lots of heart, humanity and hope" and "a celebration of love, friendship and family in equal parts.

"I know it's only just come out but I feel a rom-com this original is going to be remembered and talked about for years to come," they concluded.

With a reputation for lighting up the screen in hits like This Way Up and Alice and Jack, Bea's newest comedy venture promises to be an unforgettable treat.

And Mrs is available to stream on Netflix.
