Bruce Springsteen plays unlikely song at gig and fans say it's 'hilariously horrible'
Bruce Springsteen delighted fans as he returned to the stage in Montreal, Canada, with a cover version of a song which has been dubbed 'hilariously horrible' by those in attendance
Legendary musician Bruce Springsteen has left fans in stitches with an "hilariously horrible" cover of an unlikely song.
The Boss took to the stage in Montreal, Canada last night (Thursday, October 31) and delighted fans with two encores and plenty of hits. But the first song of the night stuck out like a sore thumb – and left many in attendance doubled over.
It marked the first time Springsteen and The E Street Band had performed the song, which was very apt for this time of year.
Delighted attendees took to Twitter /X after the performance concluded and shared footage of Springsteen and the band, which features The Sopranos star Stevie Van Zandt, covering the Ghostbusters theme song.

While many were impressed with Springsteen's continued vocal strengths, the cover itself has stunned many as they thought they would "hate it".
One user wrote: "This is hilariously horrible. Love it!!" Another joked: "I thought I would hate this, but it's actually pretty good." A third added: "That's hilarious."
Some fans have since dubbed the band "Ghostbrucesters". They were also left praising the 76-year-old musician for surprising his audience.
One fan wrote: "That's the kind of surprises, the long time fans go to the stadium for! Awesome!" Another played with the classic catchphrase from the hit film, writing: "Who ya gonna call? Ghostbrucesters!"
The Ghostbusters theme was original performed by Ray Parker Jr and was nominated for an Academy Award back in 1985. It lost to Stevie Wonder's I Just Called to Say I Love You from the Gene Wilder-starring Woman in Red. Despite losing out on an Academy Award, Ghostbusters topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the second-best selling single in the UK Singles charts at the time of its release.
Springsteen also played hits like Dancing in the Dark, Thunder Road and also performed his cover of Nightshift by Commodores, which featured on his most recent album, Only the Strong Survive.
His performance comes just a week after the debut of documentary Road Diary, which explored the preparation Springsteen and the band undertook for their current tour. In the documentary, Springsteen's wife, Patti Scialfa, revealed she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, in 2018. The diagnosis has affected the amount of performances she appears in with The E Street Band.
She said: "This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go. Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that."
