Horror as woman killed backing

A woman has tragically died after inadvertently backing into a spinning aeroplane propeller while snapping photos.

Amanda Gallagher suffered critical injuries in the freak accident at Cook Airfield in Derby, Kansas. Despite being rushed to hospital, she tragically passed away. The emergency services descended on the airfield shortly before 3pm on Saturday afternoon, following reports of the accident.

The 37-year-old woman was capturing moments of people embarking and disembarking from planes when she stepped backwards into the propeller. Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the harrowing incident. In the wake of her passing, friends have rallied online, launching a GoFundMe campaign to ease the financial strain of funeral expenses on Amanda's family.

Abbey Charboneau, spearheading the fundraising effort, penned an emotional tribute, reports the Daily Star. She wrote: "Amanda Gallagher was kind, adventurous, creative and beautiful inside and out. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed."

Abbey went on to describe the devastating accident on GoFundMe: "On October 26th, Amanda passed away in a very sad accident, doing what she loved, skydiving and taking pictures! As her family processes through this tragic accident, they could use your help covering the funeral expenses. Please consider helping them out and also keeping them all in your prayers."

Cook Airfield expressed their deep condolences via social media, stating: "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young lady who died yesterday after a tragic accident with an airplane propeller on Cook Airfield. I wasn't there when it happened, so I will not speculate on what could have or should have happened differently."

They added: "Just please keep her family, her friends and her Air Capital Drop Zone family in your prayers and thoughts."
