RTÉ will broadcast a Soccer AM style show in the new year - and it will be aimed at the children’s market.

The programme will be made by Brick Films production company, in conjunction with the FAI, and will run over 10 weeks. It has been pencilled in for a March 2025 start.

Some of the filming has already taken place, with contributions coming in from all around the country.

According to a source, one of the ideas behind the show is to highlight the community aspect of football in Ireland, with tales of the impact that the beautiful game has on kids all across Ireland.

There will be quirky stories and skills challenges, as well as interactive opportunities, with viewers encouraged to hone their talents at home.

Some of the skills-based features will include crossbar challenge and top bins - and it is hoped within the FAI that the new show will encourage children to spend more time with a football at their feet, whether with friends or on their own.

The 10-week show is set to run on Saturday mornings.
