According to reports, Dublin legends James McCarthy and Stephen Cluxton look set to line out for Team Leinster in the Inter-Provincial Series this weekend.

Irish Examiner's John Fogarty says the two Dublin stars will line out for Leinster as the public gets their first look at the newly proposed GAA rules.

All four provinces have teams lining out for the inter-provincial series in what is the first look at the eagerly anticipated rule changes and Dublin fans now appear to get at least one more chance to see both Cluxton and McCarthy line out at GAA HQ.

Neither player has indicated if they will hang up the boots for Dublin, and fellow veteran Michael Fitzsimons has also not decided his future.

It was announced earlier this year that former Dublin boss Jim Gavin would chair the Football Rules Committee. The former manager has been hard at work and has proposed seven major rule changes.

Friday and Saturday's games will highlight the new rules. As part of the proposed rule changes, only one midfielder from each side will go in for the throw-in to start each half.

A goalkeeper's kickouts must go beyond a 40-metre arc. The goalkeeper can now only receive the ball past the halfway line or in their box.

The scoring system will change. A new 40-metre arc will be introduced, with points kicked outside of it worth two points and goals worth four points.

Players will have the option to solo and go for free kicks. The advanced mark has also changed, with players given an advantage to go for goal. If they fail to score, they will come back for a free kick.

As part of the new rules, players can now be inside the 20-metre line for kickout. There is also another major rule change: at least three players from either side must stay inside their own half at all times.

Leinster v Connacht takes place at 6 pm on Friday in Croke Park, with Munster taking on Ulster at 8 pm. Those games will be broadcast on TG4. The final will take place at 7.30 pm on Saturday between the two winning teams, live on RTE Two, with a Shield Final at 5.30 pm broadcast on RTE News Now.
