Boyzlife singer Brian McFadden has told how his mother told ex-wife Kerry Katona to stand at the edge of a family photograph – in case the couple break up.

McFadden opened up to Nicky Byrne on his Nicky Byrne HQ podcast how his mother Mairead has a “quick tongue". “She’s not afraid to speak her mind,” he said.

McFadden and Katona split in 2004 after two years of marriage. The pair share two children, Molly and Lilly-Sue together. But the Dubliner revealed how his mother once told Kerry to stand at the edge of a family photograph so she could cut her out of it “when they break up.”

“Things that my mam used to do like for example that first year when Kerry was over at the house, we did a big family photograph and she made Kerry stand on the end, saying ‘just in case when you break up, I can cut you out of it’.

“The thing is everyone laughed but she wasn’t joking,” he added.

In September this year, Kerry admitted she was “lonely” living in Ireland. The former Atomic Kitten star and the ex-Westlife singer moved to Portmarnock, Dublin for a few years before divorcing.

Writing in her OK! Magazine column, the 44-year-old said: “When I moved to Ireland with my first husband I found it really lonely, especially as he was away so much and I had the kids. But I loved Ireland and see it as my second home now.”
