Heavy traffic delays in Dublin

Heavy delays are expected in the capital throughout Tuesday due to road closures as Budget 2025 gets underway in Dáil Éireann.

The nation is awaiting Finance Minister Jack Chambers and Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe’s unveiling of Budget 2025 today, with a bumper cost-of-living package expected to be announced.

Multiple road closures are in place in Dublin City, with Merrion Square West, Merrion Square South, Merrion Street Upper, Kildare Street and Molesworth Street all closed off due to the Budget announcement.

Live Drive warned of major delays, urging motorists to be aware that Merrion Square North, Westland Row, Lombard St and City Quay are all busy due to the road closures around the Dáil and to expect delays to spread to Northwall Quay, Amiens St and Gardiner St.

In the Northside, North Strand Road, Amiens Street and Beresford Place are very slow and Fairview, Fairview Strand, Ballybough Rd and Summerhill Parade are at a standstill with Richmond Road approaching Ballybough Rd also slow.

In the Southside the Grand Canal eastbound is very slow from Harolds Cross to Rathmines.

Harrington St is at a standstill from Leonard's Corner to Kelly's Corner with delays on South Circular Road from Griffith College. City Quay, Lombard St, Westland Row, and Merrion Square North are all very slow due to the road closures around the Dáil ahead of the Budget 2025 announcement later today.

TII Motorway Traffic Control Centre also urged motorists to be aware that routes approaching Dublin experiencing delays, including the M1 S, M3 S, M4 E, M7 E, M11 N.

They also warned of delays on M50 between J03 - J13 Southbound as they told motorists to “drive with care”.
