Selling Sunset star Mary Bonnet has spilled some of the hit Netflix show’s secrets – and how potential buyers are vetted before being allowed to meet the real estate stars.

The American star joined Dermot Whelan for a chat on his The Mind Full podcast where she opened up about her recent miscarriage and how "this one hit harder."

She said: "It’s not my first miscarriage but this one hit harder. A couple years ago I thought, I am done with kids, I am happy I am focusing on my career. I realised I wanted a family with Romaine, he wanted kids. I think it hit me harder, that it might not be on the cards, I waited too long, it might not happen…you lost your chance. I was pretty depressed for about 6 months."

Mary told Dermot about overcoming hurdles as a teen mum, bringing up a young child when she was 15 years old while juggling college and work, which saw her flip her car due to exhaustion.

She also divulges what life is really like in the USA’s most famous real estate company. Gone are the days when she could take prospective buyers to view houses alone.

With the rising popularity of the show they now need to really vet prospective buyers and weed out the ‘tyre kickers’ who just want to hang out with Mary or her glam colleagues.

"We have to do a lot of vetting before we will even meet with someone. We have to look them up and make sure not only can they afford to buy it, but they are not psycho! There’s a lot of people that reach out and we have to take our safety very seriously.

"We are going alone with somebody to a house that’s empty. Before it wasn’t a big deal but now we’re targets so we have to be very, very careful that people are who they say they are, that we are not alone. For an Open House we are saying where we are going to be from this time to this time alone."
