BBC yanks Jay Blades shows off air as he's charged with controlling and coercive behaviour

The BBC has today pulled a repeat of a show featuring Jay Blades after The Repair Shop presenter was charged with engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his estranged wife.
The 54-year-old appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Friday. His court appearance came after Blades was charged by West Mercia Police with one count of engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.
Following the news, the BBC removed David & Jay's Touring Toolshed from this evening's schedule. The Mirror understands the BBC is not currently scheduling any programmes in which Blades features.

Tonight's episode, in which Blades appears with actor Sir David Jason, was due to air at 8pm this evening but was replaced by a "shortened version" of Charlie Dimmock's show Garden Rescue. Wednesday was the last time Blades was on air on The Repair Show. The show was nominated for the National Television Awards, but was beaten by The Chase this year.
According to court documents, Blades' charge relates to his fitness instructor wife Lisa Zbozen, who announced on her Instagram page in May that their relationship was over. The couple married in the grounds of a beachfront villa in Barbados on November 22, 2022.
The presenter will appear at Worcester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on October 11. In a statement, West Mercia Police said: "54-year-old Jason Blades of Wolverhampton has been charged with controlling and coercive behaviour. He appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court this morning (Friday 13th September) and has been bailed to appear at Worcester Crown Court on Friday 11th October. The charges follow the launch of an investigation after we were called to an address on 3rd May."
Blades, who was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2021 Birthday Honours, for services to craft, is best known for his work on the BBC series The Repair Shop and is set to front an upcoming Channel 5 series titled Jay Blades: A Country House Through Time.
In addition to being a series regular on The Repair Shop has also starred in numerous documentaries, including fifteen-part series David & Jay's Touring Toolshed and a recent Channel 4 feature with Judi Dench, called Dame Judi & Jay: The Odd Couple.
