It's a nailed-on sign that summer is in the rear-view mirror... The Late Late Show returns to add a splash of colour to darkening Friday nights.

RTE has been through a rolling crisis, and still remains embroiled in the controversy sparked by the Ryan Tubridy payments fiasco.

But the juggernaut that is 'the Late Late' rolls on - with the new season kicking off at 9.35pm on RTE One.

The line up has already been revealed, with golf ace Rory McIlroy and Paralympian heroes set to join our Olympic stars for a chat with Patrick Kielty who begins his second season in the hot seat.

Late Late Toy Show date confirmed

RTÉ has confirmed the date for this year's Late Late Toy Show, with the annual fun-filled festive extravaganza set to take place a little later than usual this year.

Producers are also on the lookout for the next batch of Toy Show superstars as applications are now open for child performers and toy demonstrators from across the country.

Show bosses are looking to meet the best of Ireland's young singers, dancers, musicians, performers and toy connoisseurs and are calling on all children across the country with any interest in appearing on the show to get in touch.

"Something really big" in store for Late Late Show viewers

Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty has revealed "big surprises" are in store for the new season of the long-running RTE chat show.

The Co Down native is gearing up to host his second season of the RTÉ One show, which returns to our screens this evening. Patrick told us he hopes to go on the road and travel the country to meet audiences.

And he revealed he is already planning "something really big" for the final show next year in 2025.

The Late Late Show returns to our screens this evening, with host Patrick Kielty starting his second season at the helm.

The Co Down comedian will be joined by a star-studded line-up on Friday night which includes four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, comedian John Bishop, young rappers Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew, and some of Ireland's Olympic and Paralympic heroes.
