Dublin traffic LIVE: Motorists

Motorists in Dublin have been advised to avoid the M3 after all lanes were shut by authorities due to a serious incident.

Diversions have been put in place at Junction 2 Connolly with traffic being diverted off at the slip road for the hospital. Vehicles are stuck after the closure and long delays are reported in the area.

The closure is expected to remain in place for the next few hours, meaning there could be delays well into the evening.

A spokesperson for the M50 said: "M3: diversions are in place at J2 Connolly hospital inbound and vehicles stuck after closure are currently being turned around. The closure is expected to remain in place for the next few hours. Please avoid M3 if possible."

A spokesperson for Gardaí warned that heavy traffic disruption is expected as emergency services attend the incident.
