The four victims of Wednesday's sickening school shooting have been named and pictured as a community mourns yet another terrible mass killing.

The two teens and two teachers massacred at the Apalachee High School in Georgia, US, have been named as 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo; Richard Aspinwall, 39, a teacher; and Christina Irimie, 53, another teacher.

A vigil was held on Wednesday night to remember the victims who were allegedly gunned down by suspected shooter Colt Gray, who is also 14. The heartbroken community gathered together in their shared grief as Chris Hosey, Georgia Bureau of Investigation director, announced their names at a 9pm press conference. Both faculty members, Aspinwall and Irimie, were listed as maths teachers on the school's website, which also revealed that Aspinwall was the defensive coordinator of the school's football team.

Nine others were injured and taken to hospital, but they have now been released, reports the Mirror US. It has emerged that the Georgia school shooting suspect had been on the FBI's radar for over a year before Wednesday's deadly mass shooting.

The FBI has disclosed that they interviewed suspected Appalachia school shooter Colt Gray and his father a year ago regarding threatening social media posts made by the teenager. In May of 2023, the bureau's National Threat Operations Center received several anonymous tips about online threats made to commit a school shooting at an unspecified location and time, according to the FBI's Atlanta Office.

The FBI discovered that the threats, which included photographs of guns, originated from Georgia within 24 hours. The matter was then referred to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office by the FBI's Atlanta Field Office for further action.

In Barrow County, Georgia, community members gathered at Jug Tavern Park to remember and pray for the victims of the fatal shooting that took place at Apalachee High School in Winder, GA earlier on Wednesday morning.

"Today it's easy to point out a 14-year-old boy, who walked into a school and changed the lives of so many. My question is can we pray for the life that changed who that 14-year-old boy was. That placed him in a position that he was so twisted to find himself in need of being an agent of evil," one speaker said at the vigil.

As the community continues to grapple with this horrific tragedy, onlookers lit candles and listened to prayers from various speakers on Wednesday night.
