A former Hardy Bucks actor has been slammed after questioning if Enoch Burke would have been "arrested if he was Muslim" in a strange online rant.

Stephen Kelly, who played Cowboy Lavin in the hit RTÉ show Hardy Bucks, posted a video on social media questioning if Burke would have been sent back to jail for breaching a court order if he practised Islam.

On Tuesday, Enoch Burke was jailed for a third time for breaching a court order to stay away from a school that he was sacked from last year after he showed up each day to Wilson's Hospital School in Multyfarnham since it reopened for the school term.

The former hardy Bucks actor said in a video on X: "Nothing spells the end of summer more than Enoch Burke being arrested.

"I know technically he has been arrested for contempt of court but at the end of the day, it all stems from the standpoint that he was standing up for his beliefs.

"And whether you agree with him or you don’t agree with him, it does beg the question would it have got this far or would he keep getting arrested if he was Muslim or any other religion standing up for their beliefs?"

Outraged social media users flocked to the comments to slam the former comedy actor for his post calling him "incorrect" for his tirade.

Following the huge backlash across social media, Kelly reposted the video to the 3 Bucks Left Facebook page, he maintains that he does not "hate Muslims" and "thought and still thinks it was a valid question".

Previously, Kelly came under fire after posting a video saying he was "sweating here like a t**ker trying to read", prompting many Traveller rights groups to call on the comedian and social media personality to apologise.
