Shane Lowry shared a touching moment with his family during the FedEx Cup finale at East Lake this weekend.

The Irishman earned a whopping $1.61 million for finishing in a tie for 9th in his first appearance at the Tour Championship to round off what has been an excellent season on the PGA Tour.

Lowry's family were in attendance for the Offaly native's final tournament of the PGA season and the 2019 Open Champion managed to share a lovely moment with his two daughters Iris and Ivy during the final round.

While walking off a green, Lowry spotted his girls in the crowd waving down at him and shouting "Daddy!"

Lowry responded with a big wave up to his two biggest fans who were delighted to have caught his eye.

Sharing a video of the lovely moment on social media, Lowry wrote: "I’ve had a lot of good moments this year but this is by far the coolest."

While the race to the FedEx Cup is over, Lowry still has some big tournaments to play this year and will be teeing it in the Irish Open next week at Royal County Down.

Lowry wasn't the only Irishman in contention at East Lake this week as Rory McIlroy also finished in a tie for 9th to take his season's earnings to $12,500,001.

Speaking after the event, McIlroy confirmed that he was planning on reducing the number of events that he would play next year.

"27. I'm usually sort of like a 22 sort of person. But again, that was when I was sort of in my 20s and didn't have the responsibilities that I do now.

"I'm going to try to cut it back to like 18 or 20 a year going forward, I think."

"My season is not over, obviously. I've still got five events left to play," he said.

"But yeah, it's been, I feel like the tournaments came thick and fast, and obviously with the Olympics thrown in there, as well, this year, it sort of condensed everything a bit."
