A murderer sentenced to Death Row for the brutal killing spree of two women made a ghoulish request to the court.

So-called 'Deadpool killer' Wade Wilson murdered Kristine Melton, 35, and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz in 2019, who prosecutors said he killed "for the sake of killing". His crimes were so brutal, State Attorney Amira Fox said she had "never seen someone as evil" in her 34-year career.

But as the 30-year-old was sentenced on Tuesday, the court heard Wilson's macabre demand. Florida's County Circuit judge was asked about the possibility of making his time on Death Row as hasty as possible.

"I understand he has other cases pending here and elsewhere... but Mr Wilson asked me to ask the court within whatever authority you have to get him to death row as soon as possible," his lawyer said. Wilson, who shares his name with the Marvel anti-hero played by Ryan Reynold s, was convicted in June of two counts of murder in the first degree.

The jury voted 9-3 in favour of the death penalty for Kristine's murder, and 10-2 for Diane's. Florida state law dictates that at least eight jurors need to agree on the death penalty for it to be considered by the judge.

Wilson had gone home with Kristine after meeting at a bar on October 6, 2019, before he strangled her at her home in Cape Coral, FL. Diane was reported missing the following day after a witness spotted Wilson asking her for directions as she walked to work.

The court heard he had stolen a car from Kristine's home which he was driving when Diane got in and he attacked her, similarly strangling her to death. He then went on to run her over until, according to evidence given by Wilson's father, she "looked like spaghetti".

Her body was found in a field behind a Sam's Club cash and carry. After the two grisly murders, Wilson continued driving Kristine's car onto Fort Myers, where he attacked his ex-girlfriend at her workplace.

Officers caught up with Wilson after the third victim reported the attack, finding him in another car stolen from her. But while they called for back-up, Wilson drove off. He was eventually arrested on October 8.

Since his arrest, Wilson has gone on to acquire a string of facial tattoos, including the morbid stitches around his mouth, a swastika and one on his neck reading, "Bred for war". Defence attorneys tried to argue Wilson had taken drugs the night before the murder, asking the judge to consider life without parole instead.

But the judge disagreed, sentencing him to death on Tuesday. The sentence was met with cheers from the public, while Kristine's cousin Samantha vowed to see him at his execution. "This will not be the last that Wade Wilson sees of us in a courtroom," she said in a press conference.

Diane Ruiz's father said their family also planned to watch his death, saying how "I didn't get to say I love her" before she was cruelly robbed of her life.
