TV star Dermot Bannon has said he is “too nervous” to think about how viewers will react to the new series of Room To Improve.

The celebrity architect revealed he has started filming the 16th season of the hit RTE show, which will wrap by December.

Speaking about what’s to come, Dermot said: “We have a great series this year, but I’m nervous. I’m too nervous to be positive because such a huge amount of work has to happen before December.

“You’re just looking into this gulf of work. It’s too soon to be asking me to be excited. I’m too scared to be excited. Room to Improve is the jellyfish of my life,” he added as he previously referenced his hatred of jellyfish while sea swimming.

The Dubliner also told the RTE Guide that he no longer takes online trolling personally.

“You'd be stupid not to listen," he says. "I don't let it dictate everything, but I certainly don't get upset by it or hurt. It's not a reflection of me.

“I know that at the end of the day, I do the best that I possibly can at that moment in time for other people. I am there trying to tell the story in a clear and concise way.

“I'm trying to bring stuff to other people for their enjoyment. I do my best. I haven't done it with an ulterior motive. There's not a huge amount of narcissism behind it. I tend to do it so that other people will enjoy it and if they're not, I listen,” he added.
