Dara O'Shea has completed a move from Burnley to Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town for a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million.

The 25-year-old Ireland defender has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2029.

O'Shea was attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs but revealed that Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna was a deciding factor.

The Dubliner said: “I’m really excited to sign for the club.

“It was really hard not to pay attention to everything the team was able to achieve last season and to have the chance to join a club with such ambition and momentum was really attractive.

“The Manager (Kieran McKenna) was a huge part of why I wanted to come here and I’ve really admired what he and the team have done over the last couple of seasons, so at this stage of my career it’s the perfect time to make the move."

O'Shea has top-flight experience, having impressed for Burnley in their season-long stay in the Premier League.

The centre-half played over 100 times for West Brom before joining the Clarets and featured in two of their Championship games this season.

But the 26-times capped international missed Burnley's 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday and will now join his Ireland teammate Sammie Szmodics in moving to Portman Road.

Ipswich have already shelled out over £100 million on transfers since their promotion to the top tier, with O'Shea becoming their eleventh signing.

The Tractor Boys are still looking for their first point of the season, though, after opening defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.
