Dee-Dee Bailey has hatched a plan against Joel Deering and Coronation Street viewers are now convinced her dedication may take a sinister turn.

Cementing her status as a fan-favourite character on the ITV soap, the solicitor portrayed by Channique Sterling-Brown has vowed to help Lauren Bolton ( Cait Fitton ) take her former fiance Joel Deering ( Calum Lill ), after finding out he had tormented the wayward teen.

During this Wednesday's (August 21, 2024) trip to the cobbles, the solicitor kept her word after Joel managed to flip the narrative by claiming she had taken abortion pills, bought online, on purpose to get rid of her son Frankie, in an attempt to cover his own tracks.

Released without charge despite Lauren telling the authorities everything he had put her through, from the financial abuse to the sexual coercion, Joel crawled back to Dee-Dee with one plea: "Take me back." Unfortunately for him, Dee-Dee had finally seen his true colours and was not about to change her mind, despite him trying to convince her he had no evidence of Lauren's claims on his phone.

Booted out with bin bags filled with memories and his belongings, jilted Joel ran to the police station once again, claiming that Dee-Dee and Lauren had made up a story to incriminate him. While DS Lisa Swain ( Vicky Myers ) was sceptical, it was clear that the scorned woman narrative could work in Joel's favour in a court of law, prompting Dee-Dee to hatch a plan to finally catch him red-handed.

Determined to stand by Lauren's side and bring her justice, Dee-Dee revealed she could also play dirty and installed a tracker on Joel's phone, allowing Lauren to feel safer. Over on X, otherwise known as Twitter, viewers of the Manchester-based programme shared their thoughts as they tried to rumble how Joel's downfall would take place - and Dee-Dee stood out to them as the one and only character able to take him down.

"Cannot wait to watch DeeDee bringing down Joel. Bring it on!", an enthused soap fan wrote, while another commented: "Smart move by Dee Dee but risky if Swain wants to check Lauren or Dee Dee’s phones. The tracker will also come in handy if Joel decides to steal Frankie."

A third pointed out: "DeeDee is in her revenge era and I can’t wait for her to bring Joel down." But in another handful of comments, some viewers believed Dee-Dee's search for justice may end in devastation: "I genuinely hope Dee Dee kills Joel", one penned, agreeing with another who'd written on Monday: "Dee Dee might actually kill Joel..." Elsewhere, another viewer was more optimistic as they chimed in: "DeeDee will be prosecuting her boyfriend."

While viewers will have to wait before finding out how Joel's downfall will play out, Calum Lill has planned ahead as he recently secured a new role. Calum's next job will be on the stage of Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre as the actor takes on another villainous role. He's due to portray Fleshcreep in the panto production of Jack and the Beanstalk from December 7, 2024, January 5, 2025.
