Cork City and Ireland underage prospect heads to La Liga outfit for week-long trial
Real Sociedad have taken an interest in one of Cork City’s top young talents.
Cork City teenager David Dunne is spending this week with Spanish side Real Sociedad.
The 15-year-old travelled to Spain last Saturday for a seven-day training spell with the La Liga side.
Dunne has captained the Leesiders’ Under-15s side this season, scoring 10 goals so far at that level, while he netted recently for the club’s Under-17s in the Mark Farren Cup against Waterford.

A winger who can play on both sides, he has also found the net this past year on the international stage.
Dunne scored against Greece last November in a UEFA Development Tournament win against Greece, while he also featured in victories over Serbia and Venezuela.
Ireland recorded a 100 percent record in that tournament, hosted by Serbia, to win outright.
The youngster also found the net in a February friendly against Australia’s Under-16 at Abbotstown.
Real Sociedad will spend this week monitoring the youngster, who will then return to Cork. If they decide to sign Dunne, they will have to wait until after his 16th birthday next February.
Cork recently lost one of their brightest talents to a top continental side when Benfica followed up their long-held interest in another Ireland underage winger.
They had been keeping tabs on Jaden Umeh for around a year, but had to wait after his 16th birthday earlier this year before swooping.
