Nigella Lawson has shared her instant hangover cure that can be a "lifesaver" when you're nursing a sore head.

The renowned food writer, TV cook and self-styled "domestic goddess", has shared her own take on a hangover remedy - and it's a strange one. Posting a video on TikTok, she shows her followers how to concoct the cure that she swears by. Beginning with a phrase common to any drinker, she says: "Don't ask". Next, she grabs the ingredients - Brandy, Lea Perrins, malt vinegar and Tabasco, but tops it off with a raw egg.

She insisted that "it's meant to be the killer hangover cure." After collecting the ingredients, she mixes them into a martini glass and explains the reasoning behind the odd mixture.

"The idea behind this is the egg yolk gives you a shot of protein and the rest is just very necessary hair of the dog. Based on the principle whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, remember, this all has to be swallowed whole." After glugging it down, Nigella returns to bed.

The morning after the night before can be a tough one, especially if you've been celebrating or drowning your sorrows a bit too enthusiastically. If you're feeling the effects and need to get yourself back on track for work, it might be tempting to reach for medication. But if you'd rather steer clear of pharmaceuticals, there are natural remedies you could consider. While there's no magic 'cure' for a hangover, there are steps you can take to alleviate the discomfort as you ride out the less-than-pleasant aftermath of a big night out.

Nutrition experts previously shared their top tips for a natural hangover remedy which you could give a go. One of the easiest ways to dodge the hangover horror is to make you're well hydrated. Even relatively light drinking leads to dehydration. This, in turn, can cause the headaches, fatigue and lack of energy that so many of us associate with hangovers. When you wake up feeling rough, drinking a glass of water should be top of your to-do list.
