Mohamed Salah has warned new Liverpool boss Arne Slot does not need the added "pressure" of comparisons to his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp stood down as Liverpool manager after almost nine years in charge last season, having won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and two League Cups during his time at Anfield.

Slot was the man tasked with filling the void left by Klopp's departure and he got off to a winning start as Liverpool beat Ipswich 2-0 in their Premier League opener thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Salah.

And when asked how things have changed at Liverpool since Slot has taken over from Klopp, Salah offered a word of warning. "It's quite different," he told TNT Sports. "Jurgen was in the team for eight years, he gave everything, now it's a new manager and new system.

"It's quite different for all of us, we need to adapt. We just need to know his way of playing and enjoy the football. We don't need to put more pressure on him, we just need to play football and enjoy our games. Let's see in the end."

Reflecting on the game itself, Salah added: "It was quite tough today to be fair, the weather was really warm. It's a tough team, I'm glad we won today, I'm always happy to make a difference. When they [Ipswich] play at home especially it's quite tough.

"The crowd is always up. We knew that before the game, we're experienced, so we expected a tough game." Salah also made history as he scored in the opening game of the season for a record ninth time.

His strike against Ipswich moved him clear of Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard as the most prolific opening-day goalscorer in Premier League history and he also assisted Jota's goal.

"Hopefully I keep going like this for the whole season," Salah said when informed of the record. "I always help to try to help the team all the time, I'm always happy to score goals or assist."

Liverpool are now set to host Brentford next weekend in their first home game of the season, with Slot hoping to win his first match in charge at Anfield.
