Coronation Street plot in crisis as major star quits with two word hint
Due to another actor leaving the show, Gail Platt's departure will now have to be rewritten to not include them anymore
Coronation Street plot has been left in crisis as a major star quits with just a two word hint.
Sean Wilson was due to return to the popular soap but this has been changed due to the star being called to a meeting and never returning to set. The actor was due to come back as Martin Platt in preparation for his ex Gail Platt's upcoming exit.
The ITV programme haven't given a specific reason for Sean's exit but have said it is down to "personal reasons". A replacement for the character has not been given.
Sean was due to star in scenes alongside Helen Worth who plays Gail Platt, but these will no longer be aired. This means that Gail's dramatic exit storyline will now need to be rewritten.

It was also reported that Helen was excited for Sean, who played Gail's ex-husband Martin, to return to the show. The Sun reported that a source said: "It has come as a complete and utter shock to everyone - and his sudden exit has rocked everyone involved with Corrie.
"Sean was loving his time on the show, and he was very popular on set. He had filmed scenes with loads of the cast, but then suddenly he was summoned to head office, and later it filtered out he wouldn’t be returning or his scenes airing, but no explanation offered. Clearly it’s a major blow for bosses who must now find a new magical and happy ending for Helen - but they are confident they’ll pull it out of the bag, and give viewers something wonderful."
Sean first took on his role as Martin in Corrie back in 1985 and his character would be involved in a turbulent relationship with Gail. He then left the soap to take on a difference challenge and started training as a chef in 2005 before going on to win awards with his Saddleworth Cheese Company.
He came back to Corrie in 2018 where he said goodbye to his son David and moved to New Zealand. Gail and Martin were married for ten years on the show but then came to an end when he had an affair but it is still considered one of her most successful relationships.
Not long after Gail's husband Brian Tilsley was murdered in 1989, she then began her relationship with Martin. They went on to have their son David together in 1990 before they got married.
Gail firstly forgave Martin for having a fling with another woman in 1994 but when this happened again with fellow nurse Rebecca in 2000, their relationship came to an end.
