Carl Bevan, the drummer of the iconic punk outfit 60 Ft Dolls, has tragically died at 51.

Renowned for his stint supporting rock giants Oasis and a celebrated performance at Glastonbury in '97, the news was confirmed by his partner Bev on Facebook : "Hello everyone, this is Bev, Carl's girlfriend.

"I'm heartbroken to say that our lovely, crazy boy has sadly passed very suddenly." She added: "I hadn't posted sooner because I wanted some time to let close friends and family know in person so thank you all so much for being respectful.

"As you might imagine, me, his daughter, parents, friends and family are all absolutely devastated. I will of course share more information when I have it and there will be a time to share the memories, but in the meantime much love to you all."

The band, which kicked off their journey in Newport, Wales back in 1992, found their essential beat with Carl stepping in as drummer upon request from founding members Richard Parfitt and Michael Cole. NME once famously summed up the band's sound as "grunge mod... proto-pub metal blues of the first order."

The group made waves through the '90s, touring with a roster of bands such as Veruca Salt, Oasis, Elastica, and Skunk Anansie. Notably, they supported the Sex Pistols during their 1996 comeback concert at Finsbury Park in London, reports OK!.

Carl, who stepped back from the music scene after his band stopped touring in the late '90s, found a new passion in producing by 2008 and later made a name for himself as a landscape artist.

His father Ray, a pastor who lent his vocals to the band's track "Let the Spirit Move You," shared a heart-wrenching tribute: "It's with a heavy heart I post this today. My beautiful, talented, funny genius only son passed away yesterday. I will miss you, Carl. I'm so proud of you."

He continued, "You had so many dreams about your future as an artist but be assured your unique incredible paintings will reach legendary status in the years to come. My life will never be the same without you."

Richard Parfitt, a former bandmate, penned on X: "Carl Bevan was a brilliant drummer, a brilliant artist and a brilliant fiend. So long little brother x." Rick Murray, Ash's drummer, also expressed his condolences: "So sorry to hear this. He was truly one of a kind."
