BBC viewers were left complaining minutes into the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony on Friday night.

The first moments of the opening ceremony saw a dazzling performance from Lady Gaga, athletes sailing down the River Seine and incredible opera performances. However, the weather took a turn for the worse during the celebrations and viewers were left complaining as all they could hear during the coverage was the rain over the microphones.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "Can't quite hear over the rain #Olympics #OpeningCeremony", another put: "You can hear the rain over the music and singing…did anyone thought about giving them individual mics and mic receivers so the world can hear what’s going on or more for whoever is watching on the Seine? #OlympicGames #olympics #OpeningCeremony" while another put: "Why is the rain louder than the music??? #Olympics #OpeningCeremony #bbc."

It comes as BBC viewers were left fearing the worse for the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony on Friday night. Ahead of the opening ceremony, the BBC aired footage earlier with a fun Tom Hiddleston video and interviews with many sporting stars. In the studio with host Clare Balding were Rebecca Adlington, Michael Johnson and Chris Hoy. However, the trio commented they had just come off the red carpet, where it started raining, with Clare, 53, commenting it was looking a little damp outside for the opening celebrations.

Taking to Twitter, now X, viewers were left concerned whether the weather could impact the opening ceremony.
