Conor McGregor has announced the launch of a new Dublin-based record label, Greenback Records.

McGregor has co-founded Greenback Records alongside music industry business partners Richard Buck and Julian O’Brien, with the ambition of offering partnership deals to artists "in a way that hasn’t been done before".

The new label is a multi-genre record company supporting artists at all levels or stages of their careers from multi-platinum-selling artists to up-and-coming rising stars, Greenback Records is said to house them all.

McGregor in a press statement spoke about how he hopes to bring a fair share of profits to artists with the new label.

"I am excited to create Ireland’s first major record label, in an industry that I have had great interest in for some time," McGregor said.

He continued: "To be able to come in and offer music artists a fair deal and properly reward them for their talent. This industry, like others, has needed an overhaul for a long time. I am excited for myself, McGregor Sports & Entertainment, to partner with Richard and Julian as founders to bring Greenback Records to life!”

The former two-weight UFC champion has expanded his activities beyond the octagon, venturing into entrepreneurship with The Black Forge Inn pub in Walkinstown in Dublin as well as his brands Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey and Forged Irish Stout. In April this year, McGregor also made his acting debut in the film Road House, a remake of the 1989 classic featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Post Malone.

McGregor's co-partner and CEO of the label is Richard Buck, who was formerly head of Global Touring at TEG and founder of the MJR Group. He was responsible for more than 2,000 concerts each year worldwide. Including working for tours of 50 Cent, SIA's "Nostalgic For The Present”, and Snoop Dogg's recent “I Wanna Thank Me Tour”. Buck has also worked with a litany of major artists over his time In the music industry like De La Soul, Dizzee Rascal, Hanz Zimmer, UB40, Culture Club, Nelly, The 1975, Ed Sheeran, etc.

The other partner in the new venture is Julian O'Brien who heads up A&R at Greenback Records as well as being a creative director for the company. O'Brien worked with Buck previously on the Snoop Dogg "I Wanna Thank Me Tour”, and has represented Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, D12, Coolio, Obie Trice, The Game, and Ireland's biggest rap group Versatile.

Several artists have already signed major deals with Greenback Records and these will be announced in the coming weeks. The label will be based in Dublin and have a recording studio at its headquarters.
