Pedestrian, 40s, dies in early

A pedestrian in his 40s has lost his life following a hit-and-run in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the coast road in Baldoyle just before 1am on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, a male aged in his 40s, was fatally injured. The car involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.

The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will be made for a post-mortem examination. The road was closed overnight to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road is expected to re-open shortly.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this tragic early morning collision to come forward

A Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Howth Garda Station on 01 666 4900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
