Floyd Mayweather has announced he will be returning to the ring on August 24 for a rematch against John Gotti III.

Gotti is the grandson of notorious mobster John Gotti and he fought Mayweather back in 2023, with the bout descending into chaos. Gotti was disqualified by referee Kenny Bayliss, but continued to throw punches at Mayweather.

His actions sparked a major brawl, with around 60 people storming the ring, while fights also broke out in the crowd and backstage. Now, Mayweather and Gotti are set to rematch in Mexico City.

Mayweather announced the fight on social media, posting: "#UnfinishedBusiness August 24th Mayweather Vs. Gotti 3 Rematch in Mexico City. This is something you don’t want to miss!!"

Mayweather had previously teased a rematch against Gotti would take place in Las Vegas on Super Bowl weekend back in February, but talks ultimately broke down. The 47-year-old has a 50-0 record as a boxer, but has been holding exhibition fights in recent years.

Mayweather has fought the likes of YouTubers Logan Paul and Deji, Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and reality TV star turned MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers. Gotti, meanwhile, has a 5-1 record in MMA and a 2-0 record in boxing.

Reflecting on their first fight, Gotti told The MMA Hour last June: "It got diffused. We're good. We've been speaking. My father's been in touch with their team, and there's no bad blood here. It's business.

"We did what we had to do, and we squash it and move on. We're in talks right now, actually, to do something. We'll see where it goes. From what I understood, after the fight, it was the most Googled thing in the whole world.

"Floyd's a businessman. Floyd wants to capitalise on that. He wants to make money. If they want to do it again, I'm here, and I promise you this time, I'm going to come out guns blazing as soon as that bell rings and we're going to fight now."
