The 1st prize of the 26th Hungarian Real Estate Development Award went to Városliget Real Estate Development Ltd. for the Liget Budapest Project, together with the Urban Development 1st prize and the special prize of the housing fair media group, said the organizer, the Hungarian branch of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI).

Real estate developers, contractors and designers were extremely active and the second largest field in the history of the competition was entered this year, with 46 facilities entered, from which a jury of Hungarian and foreign professionals selected the best in each category.

The Liget Budapest Project is currently Europe’s largest urban development project with a cultural content. Within the framework of the project, the country has been enriched by cultural and landscape architecture investments on a scale not seen since the Millennium, many of which have now become new landmarks in Hungary.

Thanks to the project, the City Park has been restored to its former glory and has become Budapest’s number one green space.

In addition, the Special Prize was awarded this year to the Veszprém Cultural Quarter, based on the votes of the applicants. The Mayor of Veszprém wrote in a Facebook post about the development project of the Cultural Quarter that it was largely created within the framework of the European Capital of Culture program. The project’s main focus was the regeneration of the historic city center, that is connected to the castle from the south, resulting in a continuous “green cultural corridor.”

This new district not only brings together different historical periods, but also provides cultural, heritage, artistic, educational, leisure and community functions – all in a modern service and a renewed green environment.

The winners will be eligible to participate in the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence international competition.

Every year, the Paris-based FIABCI, the International Real Estate Association, which operates in more than 60 countries, launches the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence, which aims to select and recognize the most successful real estate developments. Launched more than 30 years ago, the world’s most prestigious real estate development competition has so far attracted real estate developers from 37 countries on 5 continents.
