State Secretary for Religious and National Minority Relations, Miklós Soltész, emphasized the importance of bringing peace to Transcarpathia and Ukraine while delivering aid to a Hungarian school in Vynohradiv (Nagyszőlős).

Caritas Hungary extended its Let’s make school a joy program from Hungary to Transcarpathia, supporting disadvantaged children at the start of the school year. The charity distributed school supplies, textbooks, and additionally 20 bicycles to students of the Zsigmond Perényi High School.

The charity provided nearly 30 schoolbags in Vynohradiv and plans to deliver a total of 150 schoolbags to various regions including Uzhhorod (Ungvár), Mukachevo (Munkács), Berehove (Beregszász), and Vylok (Tiszaújlak).

Miklós Soltész highlighted Hungary’s significant contribution to Ukraine, including sending 5,300 tonnes of aid worth approximately EUR 34M to Carpathian and Transcarpathian regions. He emphasized Hungary’s commitment to peace, stating,

it is our task, it is our duty in Hungary to seize the opportunity for peace by every means.”

Mr. Soltész also noted, “The tragedies of war are present in the families of both teachers and students.”

The Government, in collaboration with charitable organizations like Caritas Hungary, continues to provide substantial aid to Transcarpathia and Ukraine. Despite facing criticism, Hungary remains committed to pursuing peace in the region through humanitarian efforts and diplomatic channels. The ongoing support, including educational assistance and holiday programs for Ukrainian children, demonstrates Hungary’s dedication to helping its neighbors during the ongoing conflict.
