The pilots turned towards Budapest near Kecskemét (central Hungary) and landed safely at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport at 6.11 a.m. Before landing, the aircraft reported to the local air traffic control that two crew members were complaining of feeling unwell. The flight was carrying 180 passengers and 6 crew members.

The passengers were transported to the transit zone and were given water by Budapest Airport staff on arrival. The flight resumed its journey to London-Luton at 9.51 a.m. after a change of aircraft and crew.

The 12.5-year-old aircraft concerned is one of the oldest in the Wizz Air fleet. The aircraft, which has Hungarian registration, is believed to be among those whose lease has expired, but the airline has decided to extend the lease due to a shortage of aircraft caused by problems with the Pratt & Whitney GTF engines in the new generation aircraft.
