Daegu Metropolitan City is set to host the 2024 Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX 2024) at Daegu EXCO, from October 23 to 26, 2024. This major event will showcase cutting-edge technologies across a variety of sectors, from urban air mobility to artificial intelligence, robotics, and semiconductors.

An Integrated Platform for Advanced Innovation

FIX 2024 aims to be an integrated technology platform where visitors can experience a wide array of futuristic innovations under one roof. Technologies like Urban Air Mobility (UAM), autonomous vehicles, AI-powered robots, and the latest semiconductor advancements will be on display. The expo will span across the entire EXCO venue over four days, bringing together top-tier domestic and international companies.

This ambitious event reflects the growing convergence of industries and the need for a unified business platform that connects these emerging global trends. Daegu, having developed a reputation for fostering new industries, has positioned itself as an ideal industrial hub for this forward-thinking expo. Building on the success of previous events like the Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo (DIFA), the city has been meticulously preparing for FIX 2024 to emphasize its role in innovative technologies.

A Unified Event Bringing Together Multiple Sectors

FIX 2024 will consolidate several prominent events—such as the ICT Convergence Expo Korea (ITCE) and the Daegu Robot Expo (ROBEX)—into a single, cohesive exhibition, featuring participation from global and domestic leaders in innovation. The event will be organized into four main halls: Mobility Hall, Robot Hall, ABB Hall, and Startup Hall, each focused on a different aspect of emerging technologies.

Mobility Hall: Leading the Way in Future Mobility

As part of DIFA, the Mobility Hall will showcase a wide range of technologies in the mobility sector, including electric and hydrogen vehicles, autonomous driving systems, and advanced batteries. Major global companies such as Hyundai, Kia, Samsung SDI, and GM will participate, offering visitors a glimpse into the future of transportation through concept cars, software-defined vehicles (SDVs), and purpose-built vehicles (PBVs). In addition, there will be promotional booths for Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport, which is set to open in 2029, as well as a UAM experience center, complete with virtual reality demonstrations.

Robot Hall: Showcasing Global Leadership in Robotics

The Robot Hall, building on ROBEX, will highlight Daegu's push to become a global leader in robotics, supported by recent investments from companies like Rainbow Robotics and Bear Robotics. The hall will feature the latest in industrial robots, AI-powered service robots, delivery robots, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). A special Startup IR pavilion will focus on attracting investments in the robotics sector, further positioning Korea as a global leader in robotics.

ABB Hall: Innovation in ICT and Digital Technology

The ABB Hall will inherit the ICT legacy from ITCE, reflecting Daegu’s goal of becoming a national hub for digital innovation. With plans like SK Group's 800-billion-won AI data center in Suseong Alpha City, the ABB Hall will exhibit cutting-edge technologies driving the digital economy, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, cybersecurity, and non-memory semiconductors. It will also emphasize Daegu’s growing role as a key player in ICT and ABB (AI, Big Data, Blockchain) industry development.

Startup Hall: A New Space for Emerging Innovators

The Startup Hall will debut at FIX 2024 as a space dedicated to startups and new technology ideas. It will host events such as the PNP Korea Expo, run by the world's largest accelerator, Plug and Play, and the Global Innovator Festa (GIF), which will feature startup technology showcases. This hall will serve as a platform for discovering emerging companies and technologies, offering opportunities for networking and investment.

International Conferences and Business Programs

In addition to the exhibition, FIX 2024 will host a series of international conferences, featuring keynote speeches from industry leaders on topics ranging from electric vehicles and autonomous driving to AI and cybersecurity. The conferences will provide insights into the latest trends and strategies in mobility, robotics, and ICT.

Moreover, large-scale business programs will include presentations of new technologies, investment attraction briefings, and export consultation meetings with over 200 top buyers from 30 countries. Other notable events will include the Innovation Awards, smart mobility startup camps, job fairs, and networking opportunities like Daegu Night.

Cultural Experiences and Networking

To enhance the visitor experience, Daegu is incorporating cultural facilities such as the Daegu Art Museum and Concert House into the event, offering performances and exhibitions alongside the expo. Visitors will also have the chance to explore local attractions through tours of Kim Gwang-seok Street, modern alleyways, and new industry hubs, making FIX 2024 not just a business event but a full cultural experience.

A Vision for the Future

Mayor Hong Joon-pyo has high hopes for the event, aiming to establish FIX 2024 as a global exhibition on par with the world's leading IT expos. With over 450 companies, 2,000 booths, and a venue spanning 30,000 square meters, FIX 2024 is poised to be a major step in positioning Daegu as a central player in the global innovation landscape.

The exhibition runs from October 23 to 26, with the accompanying conference concluding on October 25. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience cutting-edge mobility test drives, advanced technology showcases, and participate in international business forums.
