The forestry college, which is to take in its first higher diploma student cohort in September, will offer a certificate in forestry, Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou, told the House environment committee on Wednesday.
The agriculture ministry in consultation with the ministry of education are finalising admission criteria. According to what was heard in the committee, prospective students will be examined in English, Modern Greek, Mathematics and General Knowledge, and successful candidates will be invited to take a practical test. The final procedure will be announced by early April.
The minister noted that the process follows guidelines provided by the Hellenic Institute for certification.
Meanwhile, the forestry college is set to open its doors in January for short-duration trainings for local authorities and volunteers.
