Man remanded remanded over all

A 28-year-old man was remanded in police custody for seven days on Friday as police investigate charges of kidnapping and causing bodily harm to a 31-year-old foreign national.

According to evidence presented at Larnaca District Court, at around 6.45pm on January 1, while the foreigner was found in his apartment in Oroklini a number of people entered the home and attacked him, wounding him with a sharp object.

The attackers allegedly forced the victim into a car and transported him to another location in Larnaca, from where he managed to get away, running into a taxi office and asking for help.

Police officers were dispatched to the apartment, and the victim was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital. He was treated for hand injuries before being discharged.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon after a warrant was issued against him and was taken to court on Friday morning.

Oroklini police station is investigating.
