Police arrested a 47-year-old man for possession and transport of an illegal firearm, possession of explosives without a licence, and assault and bodily harm.
According to police, a sailor from a ship docked in Larnaca filed a complaint with the police, that he was attacked while on Finikoudes on October 27.
The man claimed to police that after waving the pistol and shouting at him, the assailant put the pistol in a bag and attacked him.
According to the sailor, he then hit his attacker, but was then followed by three people who threw stones at him and hit him.
The man added that he managed to escape, return to his boat. He was then examined by a doctor, who said he had multiple head injuries.
Following police investigations, testimony was achieved against the 47-year-old man, who was arrested on a court-ordered warrant.
Police searched the suspect’s home and car, where they found a pistol replica that was taken for examination.
