The Larnaca criminal court on Thursday sentenced two men, aged 38 and 27, to eight and nine years in prison respectively on charges of drug possession.

According to a police statement, the case followed a search by the drug squad Ykan at the 38-year-old’s residence in Larnaca on March 25, 2023, during which 1.5 kilograms of cannabis resin and 1,7 kilogrammes of cannabis were found.

The 27-year-old was linked to the case through scientific evidence, exhibits, and additional circumstantial evidence, the statement added.

The 27-year-old has previous convictions. Furthermore, a 333-day suspended prison sentence for similar drug offences, imposed under the law on narcotics and psychotropic substances, was reactivated.
