A 29-year-old man was remanded in Nicosia district court on Friday after he was found with more than 22kg of cannabis.

Police said he was arrested on Thursday as he was driving in the capital. Officers pulled him over but he crashed with a police vehicle.

Officers found 20 airtight sealed plastic bags which had 22kg and 838 gr of cannabis in the suspect’s car. He was arrested on the spot and taken to Nicosia general hospital for precautionary tests.

He was released and remanded in court on Friday for eight days.

The vehicles sustained minor damages.
