A teenager currently being held on remand for a double murder in Limassol last month has reportedly admitted to the killing, Limassol District Court heard on Sunday.

The court on Sunday renewed a remand order for a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old believed to be behind the murder of 39-year-old Andreas Kouzoupis and 38-year-old David Chmelar from Slovakia, whose charred bodies were found in a burned out car on July 31.

The vehicle, a 1992-1998 Opel Astra, was found on a dirt road between Pareklissia and Kelaki in the Limassol district.

Speaking before the court, the investigating police officer said testimony has emerged that the 19-year-old had confided in another person that he had received threats from Kouzoupis and that he was going to kill him.

According to what was heard in court, the 19-year-old allegedly called the same person after committing the crime and told him that he had killed the victim and that the second suspect with him.

Police also told the court they have phone data related to the two suspects which shows the 19-year-old was in constant communication with Kouzoupis, as well as with the second suspect.

The two face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, premeditated murder, car arson, unlawful possession, transportation and use of a firearm and explosives.

At previous hearings, the teen had identified one of the victims as their drug dealer.

According to his allegations, Kouzoupis began pressuring and threatening the older suspect for money owed to him, as well as asking him for the sum of €800 for a loudspeaker he had agreed to buy.

The two then reportedly arranged to meet Kouzoupis, who said he would be with someone else, on July 30 when the two men were shot.

The two suspects then bundled Kouzoupis into the Opel in which the other victim was killed before the 23-year-old drove it to the location it was found in. The teen went ahead in his own car, the court heard.

They had intended to push the car off a cliff, the court heard, but when this proved not possible they set it alight after buying petrol from a petrol station.
