Look out for Brussels’ festive tram trundling along six different lines in the capital until 10 January.
Public transport operator Stib launched its traditional Christmas tram on 11 December, with the expanded service running on lines 9, 18, 19, 81, 82 and 92.
The distinctive carriages are all dressed up in red, green and gold for the occasion, and adorned with decorations and lighting.
Along with the festive ride, Stib is staging a series of colourful seasonal activities for its annual end-of-year celebration.
Santa Claus will be aboard the Christmas tram on line 92 on18 December between 12.30 and 15.30. Along with photo opportunities, his mischievous elves will be handing out candy canes.
Passengers can have their gifts wrapped for free at Rogier station on 21 and 28 December from 11.00 to 15.00. Choose between either a transport network map or the numbers of the Stib lines for the gift paper. The station is also hosting a Stibstore stand selling original gifts for a couple of days.
During the festive period, De Brouckère and Louise stations, along with Rogier, are festooned in Christmas colours. For additional atmosphere, all of the network’s stations will be broadcasting carols on 24 and 25 December.
Stib reminds occasional passengers that they do not need to buy a ticket to travel on trams or buses. They can simply scan their bank card or connected device at ticket machines, it says.
