Connolly Station evacuated as armed gardai respond to 'incident' on board train
All services in and out of Connolly Station in Dublin were suspended for a period on Wednesday evening at the request of Gardaí after an incident on board an Irish Rail train.
Members of the Armed Support Unit and the Public Order Unit are currently in attendance at the station following an incident of “anti social behaviour” on board an Irish Rail commuter service arriving at Connolly Station from Sligo in the past hour.
Although authorities currently remain at the scene, Gardaí have said there are no safety issues at this time. Officers said that no further information was available.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “In the past hour, Gardaí have responded to an incident that occurred onboard an Irish Rail commuter service arriving at Connolly Station, Dublin.
“While we remain at the scene, there are no public safety issues at this time. There is no additional information available at this time.”
It is understood the station was evacuated and one man was arrested with a shotgun after armed Gardaí flooded Connolly Station as the train had just arrived from Sligo.
Services both in and out of the station were suspended during the incident between 6.30pm and 7.15pm upon request of officers.
An Irish Rail spokesperson wrote: “15:05pm Sligo/Connolly is being held at Connolly as Gardai are attending a report of anti-social behaviour.
“Services in and out of Connolly remain suspended upon request of the Gardaí. Significant delays through Connolly can be expected as a result. Update to follow.”
Services have since resumed and the station has now reopened with the exception of Platform 5.
Delays of up to 50 minutes are expected as a result of the incident. The delays are expected to ease over time as Irish Rail regulate services back to schedule.
